常家庄园位于山西省榆次市东阳镇，是一座规模宏大的清代北方民居建筑群。在晋中一带，早有“乔家一座院，常家两条街”的说法。常家在山西有儒商第一家之称，可见常家对读书和功名的重视。常家有自己的私立学校，取名石云轩书院。书院内留存有从夏禹到清宣统共42个帝王和慈禧的手迹刻帖、历代书法大家的法帖及清朝诸多名人和常氏家族书法刻帖。
The Gate in the Academy of Chang’s Compound
The Chang Family Compound is situated in the town of ******ng in Shanxi Province. It comprises a splendid group of houses constructed during the Qing Dynasty. The Compound is the largest of the many belonging to Shanxi merchants. The Chang family represented a rare group who were not only business people but also intellectuals. In the Chang family, there were not only scholars but also painters and calligraphers. They had their own school, called the “Shi Yun Xuan Academy’.
